Saif Ali Khan and Ileana D’Cruz to reunite for Uzma Ahmed biopic?

Filmmaker Shivam Nair is planning to make a biopic on Uzma Ahmed.

It was in May this year that news channels went crazy over the story of Uzma Ahmed. An Indian who fell in love with a Pakistani, but her fairy tale turned ugly as soon as she stepped into the neighbouring country. Wedding at gunpoint , sexual assaults and subsequent escape to the Indian high commission, Uzma finally returned to India with the help from Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj. And now filmmaker Shivam Nair is planning to make a biopic on her. According to a report in DNA, Saif Ali Khan and Ileana D’Cruz are being considered for the film.

While the film will be a tell-all tale about Uzma’s experience, the reports suggests that it will have another angle to it. Confirming the news of the daily, Nair said, “Yes, we are in talks with Saif. We are in the final stages of scripting and then, we will take the final call. Saif will be the main male lead, if he says yes.”

The filmmaker said that people are aware about Uzma’s story but not many know about the diplomat who helped her in the Indian embassy. And Saif will play the role of the diplomat in the film.

“Along with Uzma’s story, our story is also about a diplomat in the Indian embassy and the Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj. The character is of an Indian diplomat who’s there in Pakistan, and how he handles the whole case. When the girl is inside the Embassy, he is the one helping and taking care of her. We only know about Uzma and her story. People don’t know much about the role of this diplomat. It’s a positive role. That’s the major part of the story. The diplomat and the girl (to be rescued) are the lead roles,” said Nair.Buzz has it that Ileana, who played Saif’s love interest in Happy Ending, might be considered for the role of Uzma.
