National Film Awards 2017
The 64th National Film Awards ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 3 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. While Akshay Kumar was honoured with the Best Actor award for his performance in ‘Rustom’, Sonam Kapoor was felicitated with a Special Mention for ‘Neerja’ at the prestigious award ceremony. We bring you a compilation of the winning moments from the function.
Bollywood’s ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar received his first National Award as Best Actor for ‘Rustom’. The actor was accompanied by his “most important people” – wife Twinkle Khanna and son Aarav – on one of the most important days of his life. Delighted by the award, Akshay took to Twitter to express his joy as he shared a picture from the 64th National Film Awards ceremony, where he can be seen receiving the honour from President Pranab Mukherjee. He captioned the image, “No words can do justice to the joy I feel at this moment…sharing with you all my first ever #NationalFilmAward! Thank you for the love.”
Akshay Kumar looked dapper as he sported a black bandhgala with a pink pocket square. While son Aarav sported a traditional off-white stripped kurta, Twinkle Khanna looked elegant as ever in a purple and pink saree. Ahead of the ceremony, Akshay posted a family photo on his Twitter handle and captioned it, “An important day in my life with the most important people in the world to me, my family #National Film Awards.”
It was indeed a proud moment for father Anil Kapoor as he witnessed daughter Sonam Kapoor receive her first National Award with a Special Mention at the function held in Delhi. Anil Kapoor was beaming with joy and was seen clicking pictures from the audience as Sonam was honoured with the award. The ‘ageless’ actor expressed that nothing can be bigger than this award. He also said that it is a really big day for him as his daughter received an award from President Pranab Mukherjee and the Government of India.
Not only her doting father Anil Kapoor and mother Sunita, Sonam Kapoor was also accompanied by her alleged boyfriend Anand Ahuja as she received her first National Award for ‘Neerja’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Clad in a subtle pistachio green sari with heavy kundan jewellery, the actress looked radiant. Her hair was tied in a low bun with a gajra in place.
Newbie Zaira Wasim also made Bollywood proud as she was honoured with the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for ‘Dangal’. The youngster was all smiles as she was felicitated by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Akshay Kumar posed for pictures with other winners at the do. The actor along with Anil Kapoor shared a warm moment with veteran Telugu filmmaker K Vishwanath.
