chirakodinja kinavukal

chirakodinja Kinavukal ( Eng: Dreams with Broken Wings) is a Malayalam Spoof-comedy film directed by Santhosh Viswanath. This is Viswanath’s debutant attempt.  Listin Stephen, under the banner of Magic Films produced it. The film features Sreenivasan, kunchako Boban and Rima kallungal in lead roles with Joy Mathew and Srinda Ashab in supporting roles. The close relation of these film with the story Azhakiya Ravanan make it a spin off relation with that film.

This film dealt with the story of a tailor who tries passionately to get over the love of his girlfriend by any means and the setbacks faces thereafter. ‘Azhakiya Ravanan’ a film by Mammootty was a super hit and it adopted the same theory with a slight difference. A tailor (Sreenivasan), who falls head over heels before a girl, sumathi (Rima kallungal) near by his house, started to see day dreams with her. In their dreams they travelled to the end of the world and  he was ready to give up or conquer anybody for getting her. But the fate was different and her ‘cruel’ father decides to marry her off to and NRI. Actually her father does not want to give her girl to a mere tailor and spoil her life. The disappointed tailor from his distress started to write a Novel and tries to stop the marriage. For his providence his novel wins that years’ state award for the best novel.  He got an amout so big and he built a huge mansion in the tranquility  of  the town and accidently the housewarming and wedding ceremony falls on the same day. Her father also came to know about the big house and the wealth of the tailor. But again he was not willing to change his word and proceeds with the marriage of her daughter with the NRI. But the heartbroken tailor tried to commit suicide. Can he stop the marriage by his futile attempt of suicide? Will Sumitha understand his real love and cameabck? Some unexpected happenings are waiting for you with a romantic touch.

Though the film received many positive reviews they couldn’t be enough to make it a success. The film does have an interesting plot, but the film crew with weakly sketched characters failed to make any impact on the viewers.  There are quite many moments in this film which questions our sensibility and It treats  audience as dumb people who seem to be in need for superlative stimulants  always. But the audience now a days are more prudent than before and they are able to introgate things in a better way than before. They may not receive any rubbish things and for thar the directors should be aware of. Some artificial dialoguges with no relation with the plot make it monotonous. If we look at the film on performance wise except Rima kallungal none could rise with the occasion and show a superfluous concert. But critics could see some positive elements and appreciated the style of the film which portrayed the pre-existed and existing clinches in contemporary Malayalam Cinema with out lampoon any superstars or directors.
