Vaastu Prakaara

Vaastu Prakara, a Kannada satirical comedy film of 2015 was directed by Yogaraj Bhat.  The film stars Rakshit shetty, Jaggesh, Ashani Shetty and paul Yadav in lead roles. Anant Nag, sudha Rani, Sudha Belawadi and TN sreetharam is supporting roles.

The film ‘Vaasthu Prakaara’ deals with the story of a family in which there occures a clash between father and son on some superstitios beliefs.  But at last the the son himself choose the the same profession for his livelihood. Krishna Shastry (TN Seetharam) is the famous Vasthu expert of his village. The villagers as well as nearby villegers have a strong failth in his ‘Vaasthu’ and he earn a good amount by practicing this. On the contrary he has the biggest enemy from his own house, that was none another than his son, Kubera (Rakshit Shetty). He openly criticized father’s theory and beliefs and Krishna not at all liked it. So he ignored and hated his son. As their quarrel increased kubera was sacked  to his Uncle’s home in USA.  His Uncle, who was supposed to be very rich as heard in his village, was actually a poor fellow who try hard to fetch his daily bread.   When he saw his nephew in his home he was surprised and revealed all his difficulties there. They too thought many plans and lastly selected ‘Vasthu sastra’ as a way to save themselves from the crisis. Though no belief in this they selected this as an easy way to make money. They approached an aristocratic family where there were many problems and the couples were on the bric of divorce. They convinced them about reasons of their chaos and got permission to change the structure of their building acoording to the present plan. Their daughter Sudharani was fully coperaive with them as she strongly wished for a peace ful life with her parents. But the things went out of their hand and nothing happened according to their plan . Kubera and suharani (Aishani Shetty) fell in love each other and it created many problems. Jagadish suffered a lot in between them. Can they complete their estimate of changes of the house? Will the love of kubera and Sudharani be fruitful?  Will the couples will cancel their divorce and live together? The resrt of the film answers all these questions in an interesting way.

Upon theatrical release the film received mixed reviews more and it was not a success as Bhat’s previous films. He has praised for the attempt taken to handle a subject of peolple’s belief and design it in such a way not to harm anybody. The performance of Jaggesh was  praised largely and as an innocent girl Sudharani steals the show for most of the part. Indirectly the film conveys the message that it is not Vaasthu but the mind creates all the problems and if we wishes urdently there is a solution for every thing in the mind itself. All other performers performed their roles pertinently and the film explores the beauty of Switzerland on a large scale. The main irony of the film is that the detained subject itself is used by the protagonist to flourish in life and how can we ignore the validity of such science in our society.
