Diwakar was in a dilemma. Can he save his son by convincing his innocence? Is Mallika passed the information to the right person as she believed? There comes some unexpected twist that makes the story to the top of anxciety and a watchable one.
The film received many positive reviews. They praised the director for combining so much suspense and excitement in right prepotion. It opened a new way in the investigation history. The performances of Kamal Hassan and Trisha were widely applaused and the back ground score of the movie by Gibran was fantastic. The relation of the story to the present day occurrences are absolutely truthful and show the present downfall of the society towards corruption. Highly reputed officers who are at the top of service, assumed to be unviable to money, power and influence, are seen very much obsessed to it and leading the younger generation to the hands of so called drug mafia. They are ready to do anything, even to betray the nation without any prick of conscience. They shoulder with the culprits to spoil the younger generation of the country, not knowing that their little ones are also attracted to this trap one by one. As Gautam Bhaskaran of Hindustan times says; “ It is an absolute slick crime Adventure film”. Again as Filmbeat concluded, “Without any songs and romantic sequences, Toongaavanam is not your regular Tamil film. After all, who else will other than Kamal Hassan can make a Kollywood flick look truly international?”.
