Shamitabh is an Indian drama film in Hindi released in 2015. The film is written and directed by R Balki and among the producers, the heroes and the director played a deceisive role. They participated in it under their respective production banners. The soundtrack album and background score was done by Illaiyaraaja, while P C Sreeram handled cinematography. The film features Two superstars of Indian cinema, One from Bollywood and another from south India, Amithabh Bachchan and Danush respectively with a debutant heroine Akshara Haasan. Shamitabh describes the story of two persons and their dreams and how they unite to fight against their misfortune. Their ego and identity fights with rejection and acceptance, jealous and understanding. Daanish (Dhanush) who is mute young man and his desire from childhood was to become a part and parcel of Bollywood world. He desired it passionately and this desire brought him to Mumbai the cradle of bollywood cinema. He knocked many doors but none oppend the doors for him. He tried to enter the film city, but the guards didn't allow him to enter. He was not desperate but intruded into the city and comes across an Assistant Director, Akshara Pandey (Akshara Hassan). Though stunned in his presence, later amazed at his acting, become a fan of him. She was sure that if given a chance, he will surely conquer the bollywood. But no one was able to give a chance to a mute. They approached a doctor in a voice hospital and after a thorough checkup the doctor declared that his vocal codes are fully paralyzed and are unable to be treated. But at the same time they assure him an advanced technology can retain his voice with the help of another person. For making this 'voice transfer' technology, a success. they searched for a suitable person. After a long search, they find a person Amitabh sinha (Amitabh Bachchan) lying on the foot path. He was also a scapegoat of bollywood, directors avoided him for his sound. Now he is a drunkard and hopeless person. But the new venture seems to be very good and directors started to gave them chances and their voice and acting conqured the hearts of Bollywood and the films became superhits. Then their egos rosen and it make problems in their life and at last they separated. What happends to them after that? Can unite together to make another successful film? Will Akshara Panddey's efforts be in vain to unite his lover and the saviour?. The twist of the story in the middle turns it an interesting film to watch. The film received mixed reviews more and passed away as an average film at the box office. The rare story with a rare climax at the end couldn't salvage the film. The two super stars tried their best to perform well but the audience rejected them because of poor screenplay and direction. The story is going out of the way sometimes and unbelievable most of the times. No elements to enjoy for the common people and even the love scenes between Danush and Akshara didn't work as expected. It was a much talked film before the release and the people expected high from it. But when they find it so clumsy they directly rejected it. IBN live gave 2.5 stars stating ' The promising film comes undone by the curse of the second half. But how an efficient actor is ignored because of lack of certain factors like money, power, infiuence and 'co-operation' is well displayed in this film.
