Rowdy Fellow

Rowdy Fellow is a 2014 action Telugu film written and directed by Krishna Chaitanya. T. Prakash Reddy produced the film under his own banner Moviemills. This hybrid genre film starts Nara Rohit and Vishakha Singh in lead roles.

In brief it is a story of an egoist turning into good Samaritan. Rana Pratap (Nara Rohit) is from a rich family and he is proud of it. He just came to India after a long visit to America. He tried to lead an extravagant life and he didn’t care anybody come on his way. It was his habit to be in the club with his friends and once there was a quarrel, his ego was hurt and so he had to punch a person. For that incident he was arrested and humiliated by the Superintent of Police. The officer even slapped him and teased him with naughty or vulgar words. This incident hurt him too much. He decided to join in police and teach commissioner a lesson. Through his experience he understood that money can do everything for him and along with his strong will he joined in police and got appointed in the same area where the SP was doing duty. He had only one decision and his mind was filled with enmity. He was careless in his duty and tried to make problems always. He become a headache to Local MP and SP. Though started as a revenge game Rana Pratap came to know later about the real game played by the MP and decides to become a sincere police officer. Then new enemies emerged for him. From here the story takes a serious deviation and see the film for its climax. Surely it will not bore you.

The film received more positive reviews and in his debutante attempt itself Krishna Chaitanya proved his talent as a director. This film indirectly is on the the subject of encroachment of Kollu Lake and the sufferings of the people of the village. Krishna Chaitanya proved his talent of taking social issues into the film. The overall performance like dialogues, cinematography and choregraphy is well and impressive. But it is Nara Rohit’s show steals all the credit for making it a success. Vaisakh Singh, in her limited but important role, has taken the audience with her elegent performance. The main criticism against the film is it is lagging in the first half and takes time to get a momentum . Let us conclude this review from a quote of Deccan Chronicle: “ On the whole, it is a good debut for Krishna as director as he comes up with a real problem. … But the film is fresh when comparing to the regular masala films.”
