Rasam (Eng: Taste) is a Malayalam drama film of 2015 directed by Rajeev Nath. Chaya films produced it under the banner of Ten Entertainments. Nedumudi Venu himself done the screenplay with two more others. The film casts Indrajith Sukumaran in lead rloe and Nedumudi, Devan and Varuna shetty in supporting roles. Mohanlal had a cameo appearance as himself and he has only a guest role in it. As its name indicates, story is based on food, tastes catering and restaurants. It provides a message that every work has its own dignity and one should not ashamed of doing a work whether it is parentage or acquired one. Valliyottu Thirumeni nedumudi is a famous cook, specialist in kerala cooking and preparing 'Sadya'. Balu (Indrajith) is his son, an M.tech holder who dreams a good job in professional field and does not like to help his father in his work. Mohanlal appears as a friend of a business tycoon P.J menon (Devan), who is the owner of a business kingdom in Dubai. He is arranging his daughters marriage and as a keralite prefers to offer kerala food to the guests. Then Mohanlal suggested thirumeni's name and they invited him to Dubai to prepare the 'Sadya'. Though at bad health, Thirumeni decided to go to the fuction in order not able to avoid mahanlal's invitation. Balu also went with the team and his intention was to find a good job there in Dubai. But, after reaching there, all things turned upward down and the illness of Thirumeni reached its high and Balu had to take the lead for the sadya. But though reluctant Mohanlal advised and helped him to manage the party and in a way he had to interfere in the family problems of the Monon's family. But could he succeed in his attempt to take over the work of his father? Or anything unwanted happened in the middle? The story progresses with its twists and reach its climax in an unexpected way. The film received more negative reviews and could not succeed at the box office. The viewers couldn't find a taste in this 'Rasam' prepared by Indrajith with the support of Mohanlal. The rejection of the film by the audience were unexpected and it shocked the film crew. The comedy scenes of the film were repeated one and didn't make a chuckle in the audience. The below standard comedy which were copied from many serials and films were outdated and the film itself had some similarity to a hit Malayalam film. Except mahanlal no one could perform well and that affected its run a lot. But for a hardcore Mahanlal fan the film is just one time watchable one and a time pass.
