Premam (Eng: Love) is a romantic-comedy-drama film of mollywood film industry released in May 2015. The film is written and directed by Alphonse Putharen, while Anwar Rasheed did the production side. Anwar Rasheed produced it under the banner, Anwar Rasheed Entertainment. The film features Nivin pauly with Sai pallvi in lead roles. Some other important characters are Madonna Sebastian, Anupama parameshwaran, Shabareesh Varma, and Soubin Sahir.Rajesh Murugesan composed the music and the cinematography was handled by Anand C Chandran. The film make wonders at the box office and is still continuing to spin its magic. It is truely a land mark victory for Nivin Pauly and will surely amplify the career graph of the actor. In brief it deals with a simple common subject 'love', but the presentation and direction are the plus points of the film. The movie is about the life of an youngster who want to make love in life with a real partner but none is found suitable for him till the end. George David (Nivin pauly) is a predegree (now Plus two) student studying in a school nearby his village. He was a handsome guy to be loved by anyone but his humble nature prevented him from mingling candidly with girls. He was in love with a girl named Mary (Anupama parameswaran) and because of his shyness, couldn't express his love in time and as a result she was loved by another guy and lost. His friend's condolence gave him temporary relief and they joined a college for higher studies. His thirst for a lover buds there and this time he finds Malar (Sai pallavi), a new teacher in their college who is a Tamilian. He fall in love with her and didn't consider the moral side of loving a teacher. His friends encouraged and supported with new lessons of love, but Malar who was very intelligent and vigilant, discouraged him from his attempt. Later they had a friendly relationship and she opend a new perception of love to George. Malar was actually in love with his cousin and she dare not to reveal to George. Once while travelling to their home with her cousin malar met with an accident and George rushed to the spot with his friends. But as a result of shock Malar lost her memory power and that hurts George very much and he was highly disappointed. But The twist of the story srarts from here and Malar in an unexpected movement open George's eyes. He had become a matured youth by now and then comes the new 'avathar' who again awarded sleepless nights to him. Who was the new face annoyed him? What was the role played by Malar to make him a realistic man? The questions doesn't stop and the film will answer you in detail. I strongly suggest to watch this beautiful movie on the screen because such a film comes only once in a while. Upon release the movie received highly positive reviews and becomes a block buster. The film was unanimously appreciated by audience, critics and film industry. It became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2015. Ever before, except for some super star films, have seen such an initial pull. This unexpected win is fully credited to the account of Alphonse Putharen, who handled the script and direction very successfully with a very light yet interesting storyline. It purely shows the director's ability to develop such an interesting story from a simple subject and again many versions of it appeared already in may ways on the screen during the past years. For him he knows very well how and when to use the apt person, dialogue or twist in the story. It is his courage only made him to release this film without a trailer release. Navin Pauly Who became a lucky star of Malayalam film industry cemented his position well in this field and it is a fact that there is not even a flop film in his account so far. The youngsters accepted the new sensational hero whole heartedly and it oppened a new horizon before him. Overall the film was an entertainer by all means and the director, actors and all the film crew deserve an extol on its behalf. They proved that with a small investment a good film can reap crores and it is really a challenging period before other directors. I wish to wind up this review with a quote of Veeyen and it goes like : " Premam elevates Alphones puthren onto a pedestal of sharp film makers who have figured out the actual potential of the medium that cinema is. And in their competent hands long-standing tales assume groung-breaking forms and enthuse the viewers in ways and manners never seen before. Much more than an unabashed crowd-pleaser, premam is a bracingly alive film where almost everything, seems to have fallen right into place'.
