Pk
PK is super duper hit Hindi comedy/Drama film Directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Rajkumar with Vidhu Vinod Chopra took part in production of the film also. The main actors of the film are Amir Khan, Anushka Sharma, sushant Sinh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt. The story of the film is on an alien who comes to earth on a research mission. Though an alien he is exactly like a human and have all the characteristic on a man except the ability to speak human languages. Amir Khan performs the role of the alien humanoid hero and later got the name PK (pee-kay: Hindi) because of his strange behavior. On the way of his research he lost his ‘remote’ which was a beacon of his spacecraft and a part of his life. with out which he will be unable to do anything on the research subject and return to his homeland. PK don’t understand or speak human languages and it created much problem for him. But he can understand our thoughts and feelings by touching and grabbing our body parts. But people teased him, evade and escaped from him thinking that he is a sexual interested person. Once met with an accident and as a part of his treatment brought him to a Brothel from where he studied Bhojpuri language. He continued his search for the remote and people asked him god only knows about his device and he started his search for God. For him it was a tedious task because he find so many religous people claiming that they are gods or true representative of a god. But he was in total confusion and understood that these godman are simply cheating and exploiting people. During this time he found his remote with a godman and this godman was unwilling to give it back and told him that he got it directly from god. PK became angry and tried to protest against these meaningless rituals and supertistions. At that time a lady (Jaggu) who was workinf in Belgium landed in India and she was also a victim of the godman who stealed PK’s remote. They joined hands against the god man and godman tried to kill PK and in that incident Pk’s friend died. But PK and Jaggu din’t stop their fight and they followed a new way of protest against the godman. What was the protest? Will they succeed in defeating the godman or regaining his lost remote? The rest of the story progresses with suspense and generating curiosity among the viewers.
Though it looks like an alien story about an alien character it was received with an open hand among the common and highclass people alike. From the poster publishing itself it faced controversy and the film survived all controversies and it was a grand success in the Indian film world and outside India. His fight against the godman with Jaggu, a television journalist was considered as an heroic effort to uncover the dogmas and superstitions that prevailed in Indian society and the way common people are exploited severely by certain people, who boasts themselves as the true representatives of god. Amir Khan sometimes looks like a child and his actions are sometimes seems childish also. But all these are part of the game and Amir actually steals the show with his brilliant performance. The film got much political support and that helped much to protect it from religious terrorists. I coclude this review with a quote from Bollywood producer Ritesh Sidhwani which follows: “PK is a much watch. I am a believer and nowhere does it hurt our sentiments or questions religion. In fact it teaches you to love. And not fear in the name of God. What it rightfully does is questions the so called messagers and their role between us and our belief.”
