Oru Second Class Yathra

Oru Second Class Yatra is a Malayalam comedy action thriller film of 2015 Written and directed by Jexson Antony and Rejis Antony as their debut film. Bejoy Chandran with two more others produced the film. Vineet sreenivasan, after a short gap, appears in this film as a thief.  Nikki Galani, Cheban Vinod Jose and Nedumudi Venu are the other prominent characters.

The story of the film is on and around  a character nandu, who is a  thief, his escape and the following incidents are portrayed  beautifully in this film. Nandu and Maran are two thieves who are convicted for punishment in Kannur jail.  Because of some personal and security matters they are transferred to Thiruvananthapuram central jail. The duty of their transfer from Kannur to TVM is entrusted to two constables, Bala Gopal and kurian. They are always in quarrel with each other over small issues and are jealous at each other, and avoid no chance for rediculing each other if get a chance. The new task finds to be a burden to them but there was no chance but to obey orders. So they started their journey from kannur to TVM on parasuram express. But when they reached the kayamkulam station one of the culprits, Nandu escapes from thir custody.  They started their search for the new generation ‘kayamkulam Kochunni’. Will they be successful in finding him before the day end? Will Maran help them to find a solution to their problem or escapes himself from their custody? What is the role of Nikki Galani, which is crucial to the story in this film? To quench the anxiety you are requsted to watch the film.

The film received mixed and negative reviews and could not make a position at the box office. The trailer and posters offered more than expected and the film couldn’t rose to the expectations. Another story based on Kayamkulam didn’t clichéd this time and there was no novelty in this film. some pre-recorded sceneries, repeated dialogues and story line didn’t influence the viewers. The slow story burned the thrill of the film and expectations.  Only Chemban Vinod Jose is the invention and plus point of the film and he had made his role perfect with a stunning performance. On the other hand Vineeth Sreenivasan didn’t show any improvement from his earlier films and his average performance actually gave a negative impression to the film. Nikki Galani has no important role in particular and she just come and go with out contrbiting nothing new. The music and background  music tunes with the story and are praised by the critics. I wish to conclude the review by quoting a part from International business Times which is as follows : ‘ the film fails to come out as a comedy suspense thriller as it was supposed to be. Unfortunately the suspense elements went amiss, especially in the second half’.
