Once Upon A Time In Bihar

Once Upon A Time In Bihar is a bollywood thriller film based on real events, directed by Nithin Chandra. Neetu Chandra is the producer of the film. The film stars Ashish Vidyarthi, Kranti Prakash Jha, Ajay Kumar, Arti Puri, pankaj Jha, Deepak Singh etc....  in lead and supporting roles. This was released in October 2015 and actually a remake of the earlier released Bhojpuri film ‘Deswa’

The story of the film is about some real socio-political scenario present in our country. Two righteous, Young, enthusiastic, but unemployed youths  tries to get a job in the state in order to fulfill their dreams in life. They both had their own difficulties and limitations and they thought a job will be an amicable solution for them to resolve and face all the burdens of the life. Rajive Kumar (Kranti Prakash Jha) is working as a teacher and his nominal salary is not enough to meet his family needs. He has a sister and his dream is to send her in marriage to a decent guy. For that he requires more money and he decides to start a coaching centre for the students. He believed that a coaching centre will reduce his burden and can earn a good sum in future. But for that he requires some money and he approaches bank for loan. They were not ready to allow the loan and rejected it by showing some silly unnecessary reasons. Shanker (Deepak singh) was a well qualified man and his vision  was to serve the state by securing a government job. Though he was successful at the examination and interview he was deliberately avoided from posting because of his inability to bribe the officers. This disappointed him very much. The accidental meeting with Rajive Kumar and Shanker opens a truth before them. They understood that there are so many in the state like them and all are dissatisfied with the system. Like some unsatisfied youths they also selected the path of criminalism and started to abduct people for money. Can they success in the their ‘new’job. Or will they be aware of the danger of the game they are playing?

The film reveived mixed reviews from critics. The social and political issues it talk about in the film is very relevant today and many are the victims of theis cruel system. It is a clarion call to open the minds of the beaucracy and government of the country but a true solution is not posssble and not suggested in the film. It looks like a dubbed one of the Bhojpuri version and fails to convince fully about the pragmatism of the story. Laxity and corruption is a curse spreading everywhere in the society and it leads to a social imbalance in the society which leads to an increase in the number of discontented people. Some political leaders use them as their weapon to challenge the government and they at last becomes criminals in the society. It is a beautiful film story on paper, but fall short on execution. But the performances of the lead actors deserve appreciation and they surpassed all previous performance of them in this film.
