NH10 is a superhit Hindi language thriller film of 2015 directed by Navdeep Singh. Sharma herself is one of the Producer with the support of Phantom film company. In this female dominant film Anushka Sharma and Neil Bhoopalam play important roles. NH10 tells the story of a young couple whose life spoiled after an encounter with a group of violent criminals. Meera (Anushka Sharma) and Arjun (Neil bhoopalam) are just married couples leading a good admirable life. Both of them works as professionals and had a peaceful life where Meera is a lovable wife so timid and humble like any other common girl. One night Meera was a little late home after attending a party. That night on her way to home she was attacked by some unknown persons and she had a narrow escape from them. But that incident had a shocking effect on her and to overcome the stress her husband Arjun planned an excursion to a luxurious desert place. Her birthday was coming near, so planned this trip as a treatment to forget her sorrow and enjoy the celebration well. They started their journey through NH10, a road leading to Punjab from Delhi. In that journey the turning point of their life happened and the twist of the story begins. While on the way they stopped for lunch and unexpectedly they witnessed a young couple being relentlessly beaten by a group of hooligans. Arjun felt piety on them and get in the way of the matter with out thinking of the consequences. The victims were the newly married couples, who were of different caste and the bride’s brother himself was in the forefront of this mishap. The girl’s brother who was from a noble family wanted to kill them publically in order to save his family’s reputation. But the deadliest thing happened there and not only they could save the couples but also harmed Arjun fatally. Meera was in a helpless position and she approached many for help and prayed to save her dyeing husnband. She knew more things on the way that the girl was a daughter of a Sarpanch of the village and both the father and police of that village are supporting this honour killing. She returned to her partner to see him dead. The desperate Meera sat besides her husband helpless and gradually she was utterly changed into a new woman from there. Driven by a desire of revenge she decided to finish the cruel gang who killed her husband and the young innocent couples. But she is only a woman and she was vigilant in her attempt, which is obviously a wearisome task a girl can hardly attainable. Will she be able to coquer the culprits of her husband? Or will she meet with the same fate of her partner? The rest of the film reveals the exciting climax of the story. This is regarded as one of the super hit films of 2015 and it continuous its journey from superhit to a megahit of 2015. The miraculous performance of Anushka Sahrma as Meera is the backborne of the film. Anushka Sharma packs in an extremely strong performance laced with severe vulnerability. It gives a social message of how a woman should live in a male dominated society, who always tries to shackle her and treat her as a commodity. The change of Meera form a timid to revengous person is screened beautifully and the director, for selecting her to perform such a role, deserves an appraisal of excellence. It is a relevant film with these times and shed a ray of light to the need for women empowerment in our country. Neil Bhoopalam tried his best to make his role remarkable. But for critics there are many factors in this film which are not go right with the sensibility of a story. The story has a strong similarity to a Hollywood film and the attempt of Arjun to interfere directly to the problem is questionable since he was already a victim of such an incident and was going to entertain his wife to forgot and retain her from such a tragic incident. The excessive detailing of the violence doesn’t make it an easy watch. But since it is a film and some exaggeration may be allowed in it, for that it conveys for an intelligent audience the need for woman safety and empowerment. In short it can be described as a family entertainer with comedy, action, love and more over revenge. A watchable one with thrilling performance of Anushka Sharma
