Main Hoon (Part-Time) Killer

Main Hoon (Part-Time) Killer is purely a comedy thriller spoof film revolves around some famous Bollywood as well as southindian superstars. The name of the film was changed from ‘Main Hoon Rajanikanth’ to present name due to the intervention of the southindian super star Rjinikanth himself.  The film is written and directed by Faisal Saif and Mrs. Saroj produced it under the banner of Varsha Production House. The film marked Adithya Menon’s debutant appearance into Bollywood as a hero.

The film tells the story of some stupid, funny characters whom we may meet in our political and cultural scenario of our country. The prominent characters in the film bearing the names of some superatars and a political leader make comedy in the truest sense by plotting an imaginary story and executed intensely. Rajinikanth (Aditya Menon) is a CBI officer who undertakes many cases of variety  with enthusiasm but ends up in a mess because of his stupid behavior. Though a CBI officer he also works as a contract killer to get more money! Another Millionaire character appers in thie film is Bechchan (Shakti kapoor) who is also as stupid and funny as Rajinikanth. A corrupted guy, Hariprasad Venkatesh Naidu (be careful, not NTR!) had captured huge wealth of Bechchan, worth 50 million, by unscrupluous way.  Hearing the great vigorous (!) stories of Rajinikanth, Bechchan decided to entrust the task of retrieving his wealth to him. Rajinikant accepted the assignment wholeheartedly and hastily started his investigation. But things went out of his hand by the death of Hariprasad. Hariprasad’s beloved sex-worker, mallika didn’t miss the golden oppetunity of grabbing the huge wealth of Hariprasad and knowing this Rajinikanth started his investigation towards her. But she was a die hard fan of the superstar Rajinikanth  and behaved like an extremist  for his films.  Could Rajini get back the property of Bechchan and reveal the secret behind the death of Hariprasad? Is mallika too crooked to catch by Rajinikanth? The story widens the number of questions, but I won’t do injustice to the story by telling the answers. Foe answers I request you to watch the film in the theatre.

The film received positive as well as negative reviews from critics. The film became controversial from the first word go. The name of the film and characters were deliberately made to make a quick buck but the fact is that he has succeeded by doing so. The controversy made the film more popular among the fans and in order to quench their thirst of anxiety they ran to theatre. But it really project the stars as a mere comic characters  and by this tries to make comedy in the film. As stated before this innovative attempt was a successful attempt as far as this film is concerned. At box office this film made wonders and were far ahead than the superstar’s original fim ‘Lingaa’. The film made this record, only from the northern region of India, because it was not released in the south due to fear of any cases. Aditya Menon proved his talent as a good comedian actor in imitating great personalities and peformed his part very well. The film is good as an entertainment, provides some great comedy situations which shows how comedy can do wonders in a story if one knows how to use it. But for a serious viewer the film contribute nothing and sometimes goes beyond the limit of common sense. But the political satire augmented by the film has many examples from our political, cultural and religious domains. As ‘Box Office Collections’ reviewed: “Faisal Saif may not be an outstanding technician but he is surely the director who has made a good entertaining package which in the coming times will become a cult”.
