Katham Katham

Katham katham is a Tamil action film of 2015 directed by the son of veteran writer Thooyavan, Babu Thooyavan. The movie is produced by Appu Movies. Nandha Durairaj, Natarajan Subramaniam, Sanam Shetty and Sharika apeears in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Nizhalgal Ravi, Singamuthu, Crane Manohar and Soundar.

The story of the movie is centred on two police chararacters, one is  very upright from the beginning and the other is forced to come on the righy way by circumstances. Nandha (Nandha durairaj) is an icon for the police department and how a police cop should behave in his life is evidently reflected in his life. His rightfulness was actually a headache for some leaders and they transferred   him many times. At present he woks in a station based in Pollachi. The inspector in Pollachi was one Pandian (Natrajan Subramaniam), a pimp of a political tycoon Periyannan (Rajagopalan). They were very cruel to the locals and the padian and his subordinates were very loyal to the political leaders. So at a moment, for Nandha it became necessary to clash with pandian and seriously wounded pandian dramatically returned to life by receiving bold from the public. He became a new man but Nandha couldn’t believe it absolutely and tries to assess him by some ways. The rest of the story constitute his conversion and revenge. But will he triumph in his attempt or not is the rest of the story.

The film received mixed response from the critics and the commercial elements added to it definitely  hindered it from bcoming a classical one. The film is a predictable one from the first word it go and no suspense is there in the climax scenes. The sudden change of Pandian is not convincing enough to the audience as the hero. But the social and political aspects envisaged in the film are very relevant and thought provoking. Nandha and Pandian Along with Periyannan did well in the film but as Hindu reports “ if the director had avoided the temptation of including necessary commercial elements, Katham katham would have been a Quality film”.
