It is the modern-day adaptation of the famous shakespearian drama Hamlet. this sensitivefilm a story of betrayal and revenge. Haider, whose father was cheated, jailed and finally killed by his own uncle and mother, reveals the tragic end of malicious people. Haider is an incredibly brave uncompromising film made with loads of conviction with blatant disregard to market conventions. In the background of Kashmir, it gives an unflinching eye on the Kashmir struggle.

It has won a world wide acceptance and has won some international Awards. Mohar Basu of Koimoi detailed out performances, direction, script, editing and screenplay gave the verdict, "Haider is an unforgettable film that never fumbles, never stumbles, and is so sure of itself that it cannot go wrong. Seldom if ever, has a Shakespearean tragedy been given such a magnificent treatment in cinema of any language. Sure, the narrative is fractured and fatally flawed at times, but like the hero's villainous uncle, who lies limbless writhing in pain in the Kashmiri snow pleading for death at the end, the narrative dares you to end the pain of a people who wear their brutal existence on their sleeves. sense of beauty to the work… I don't think any other two actors could have better understood the political, cultural and emotional complexities of their characters. Haider looks at a grieving son's search for his missing father with languorous affection.

(NDTV). Ghazala (Haider’s mother)tells him that revenge only results in revenge and there is no ending to this cycle, but Haider who is determined to avenge his father's death does not understand it first but later leave his uncle to live. In deviating from the original ending of Hamlet, it also makes a necessary point about the cyclical nature of revenge and violence. Coupled with the fact that the film is visually stunning, has a new story to tell, carries ample drama moments with some good intrigue element to add make sure that Haider makes for a good watch
