Gopala Gopala

Gopala Gopala is a Telugu satirical drama film of 2015 Directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasany. Daggubati Suresh Babu and Sharat Marar iointly produced it under the banner of Suresh Productions and North Star Entertainments pvt. Ltd. The lead roles are carried out by Daggubati Venkatesh and Pawan Kalyan. Shriya Saran, Mithun Chakraborty and Posani Krishna Murali in key but supporting roles. This is a remake of the Hindi film OMG Oh My God! Starring Akshay Kumar and Parewsh Rawal. This is an interesting story of an atheist who sues god fol the loss of his belongings in an earth quake. Religious organizations revolt against him and God himself comes to help and turns him a believer!. Kanneganti Gopala Rao is an atheist and always propagate his ideology louder. He lives with his wife, child and assistant in a small shop cum house building. Though an atheist he lives by running a shop selling hindu idols!. In fact his shop is filled with many gods and goddesses standing in versatile styles. He is against rituals and he obstructs a 'holy ritual' involving his family, conducted by Siddheswar Maharaj, a fake godman. But all of a sudden an earth quake destroys his shop. He directly approaches his insurance comoany for compensation but they rejected his appeal by telling that they are helpless in it, because it is an act of god. But vibrant Rao were not disappointed and decided to sue God for his disaster. He apprroached many lawyers but no one was ready to take the case. At last he find a disabled lawyer to file the case and the insurance company and Siddheswar were sent summons to appear before court. Some fundamentalists attacked him brutally and was admitted in a hospital and he was in a critical stage. His wife also left him. But at that auspicious moment someone came there as a savior and helped him unexpectedly. His intervension became a twist in the story and changed his life. Who was the savior of his life? How did he help him? Did he succeed in getting a remuneration? The story of this atheist turning to a believer is progessing interestingly to an unexpected climax. After PK in Hindi, this is a film in Telugu which focuses on exploiting people's faith in the name of God for business and money making purposes. The godmen knows the minds of the common people and know that it is easy to take advantage of their faith for own benefits. This exploitation takes place from centuries and no one is able to question it. That is why some religious organizations come out publically protesting the movie. But the film received positive reviews from critics as well as audience and was a super hit. Their favourite hero Venkatesh steals the show with his innocent look, but brilliant performance. Pawan Kalyan actually coveted the believers mind and played an important role for the success of the film. An atheist selling idols of hindu gods for his living is the only moronic thing which does not go with the story. A business man like him should be a beliver at least before the customers!. That is a simple business logic. But the novlty of the concept and the changes it made in the remake from the orginal, make it interesting to watch. If we gant its leeway to this movie for stretching its neck out beyond the domain of the conventioal then this is visual swagger and splendor to it. This is a good lesson for the godmen who tries to exploit the common man in the name of God. I wish to conclude the review with a quote from The times of India which states as follows : 'Gopala Gopala begins as a story about an atheist, who seems to offend a lot of people around him, and in the end, the film drives home the point that when you help others it is as good as worshipping God himself. And in doing So, the film churns out plenty of thought provoking questions which force you to look for answers within yourself and this is perhaps the films biggest achievement'
