Evan maryadaraman

Ivan Maryadaraman is an action thriller film of Malayalam in 2015. Suresh Divakar directed the film while Anto Joseph Produced the film Under Anto Joseph Film Company. The film is a remake of a 1923 Hollywood movie released in 1923 by the name Our Hospitality, directed by Buster Keatons. It was a silent film during that time. The film again was transformed into various Indian languages including Hindi, Telugu and Kannada. Ivan Maryadaraman is closely connected with its counter part in  Telugu and considered as a remake of its Telugu version. The film srars Dileep and Nikki Galarani in lead roles.

The story of maryadaraman is about a guy who is always hunted by a goon for revenge and the way he escape from them with his love who was once an enemy for him. Raman works as an employee in a rice mill in Pune. He had a unhilarious past and to escape from his enemies leading a hidden life here in pune. He lost his father in a rebellion between two families and they wowed to eliminate his family. He is working hard in pune and carrying his leaod on a bycicle. Later he decided to buy an autorickshaw in order to lessen his burden. Before his father’s death he had deposited some money on Raman’s name in the post office and he wished to withdrew it from there to bur the rickshaw. He had left the native place 30 years ago and now had become a total stranger fo the place. Any way he reserved a ticket by train and started his journey to his home land. He had already decided to pardon the blemish doing of his enemies and wanted to lead a peaceful life. On his way in train he hit upon a a girl and stumble on her for love. At first site itself he liked her and by the end of the journey they became lovers. It was a surprise news for Raman that the lass was from the same place he dwells. But the twist of the story starts from there and after reaching there at home he faces unexpected difficulties and his old enemies sharpened their knieves to kill him. She understood that his lover is the daughter of his fatal enemy. Who will win the battle is the crucial question? And again what will be the stand of his ‘lover’ is another question? Will he lsost her for ever? The film answers all these questions and I am not going to break the ice by revealing the story. So request you to watch it in theatre and find the answers yourself.

The film received mixed cum positive reviews and not a hit film at the boxoffice. The film passes out as average and the big budget spent on it by the producers (especially on a site to design a house) were a waste of time and money and couldn’t recover the amount from the release. Dileep or Nikki Galrani were not mount up to the standard and it is still Nikki who performs well than Dileep at some spots. The actions are unrealistic and unbelievable and the story is predictable from the beginning itself. The film maily located family audience and the humorous scenes attracted them and serve as a plus point of the film. I wish to conclude this review with a quote from Times of India which is as follows : “ it is one of the oldest plots in tinsel town – a film that banks on love between the younger generations of warring families interspersed  with antiquated rituals and their attempts to kill each other. It gives you an eerie feeling of familiarity. However, the script writes here are Udayafrishna and Siby K Thomas, who have managed to churn out profitable flicks by showcasing stupid villains, strained relations and romantic comedies.”
