Enakkul Oruvan

Enakkul oruvan (Eng: A Man Within me) is a Tamil psychological thriller film of 2015 Directed by Prasad Ramar. This is his debutant attempt. C V Kumar is the producer of the film. This is actually a remake of its Kannada counter part of 2013 by name ‘Lucia’. The lead roles are performed by siddharth and Deepa Sannidhi.

The story of the film is a little complex regeading with the plot/story and the hero himself appears in dual role at the same time, one as real one and another as a person in his dreams. The Vicky and Vignesh are two but one person (!). He lives as a torch shiner in a theatre in real life and as an actor in his dream life. An accident by using a medicine for his desease, insomania, develops another psychological illusion in him and he regards himself as an actor. There starts a series of sruggle between the real character and dreamed one. At the same time his lady love (later became his wife) is suffering a lot because of his dual character. She also performs both the characters of a house wife and actress. The film have some twists in the middle and reveals how it affected their future life.

The young super star Siddhartha was the hero of the film. It received many positive reviews. But because of its rigidity or complexity it failed at the box office and marked as a below average film by the film industry. Siddharth and Deepa Sannidhi were performed excellently but the story of the film and direction was not received well by the audience. The film starts with the end story and goes to the flash backs later. That way itself destroys the anxiety of the audience and the climax was clear from the beginning itself. I wish to conclude the review with a quote from Indo-Asian News Service which follows as “ While Enakkul Oruvan   mostly remains faithful to the orginal, it lacks its indie spirit and somehow still feels commercial. The film would’ve worked with someone with no image and stardom, but Siddharth doesn’t disappoint”. But it received positively by critics and its uniqueness and scripting were widely appaulded. A watchable one.
