Dharam Sankat Mein (Eng: In Religious Crisis) is a Bollywood comedy drama film of 2015 directed by Fuwad Khan. Sajjad Chunawala and Shariq Patel produced the film under the banner of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Trino Media. The main stars appearing in the film are Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah. Gippy Grewal, plays short but an important role in this film. This is the official remake of the English film ‘The Infidel’ starring Omid Djalili.

The protagonist in this film born as a Muslim, brought up as a Hindu and lived like an atheist. The story of Dharampal (Paresh Rawal) is very much inetersting and controversial. He leads a simple life with his family in a small city and though living in a Hindu background, had no belive in God. He always had dislike for Islam but no haterd towards Sikhs. He was an ardent  fan of the Panjabi Sikh pop singer Manjeet Manchala and used to strat his day with an old song of him. But he was mysteriously disappeared once and not anyone heard of him later. While collecting his late mother’s belonging he came across a shocking factor that he was actually born of Muslim Parents and later was adopted by his present parents. This was really a distressing fact to him and his anxiety to meet his real father buds in him. He revealed the fact to his neighbor, Nawab mehmood Shah, with whom he had arguments against their Islam religion. But Shah assured his help and they both searched and found the old aged man in a senior home. The Imaam, taking care of the old man aked Dharampal to come as a real Muslim to meet his father. So under Nawab mehmood Shah he began to learn the ways of Muslim people and tried to practice it, but he found it very difficult to follow. The Imaam didn’t allow to see his father again telling that He didn’t become a real Muslim. Dharmapal’s son fell in love with another girl and the girls family was ready to gave their daughter in marriage. But he couldn’t conceal the secret longer and he was forced to admit the fact publically in front of his family and others that he was a Muslim orgin. This unexpected revelation made Dharampal family to forsake him and he knows that all these problems were made by a spiritual Baba named Neelanand. Neelanand had also asked the girls family to withdrew from the agreement of giving their daughter to Dharampal’s son. All these situations made Dharampal disappointed and at the same moment he searched out a very crucial secret of the Baba. It was strong enough to thrash the Baba to the ground and to reunite his family relations as before. What was the secret of Baba, which ruined his image as a spiritual guardian of Hinduism? How could Dharampal use this secret to save him and his family? For an unexpected climax you are requested to watch the film.

The film received mixed reviews from the critics and they all are united in one opinion that the story should have been better if scripted with a more serious approach. Any way it couldn’t reach to the standard of its orginal and this comic centered film fails in its core to make a social awareness.  The film is actually old wine in a new bottle ie same content with different actors. But as a comedy film, it is a thrill to watch and the methods adopted by a Hindu to practice Islam is beautifully engraved with a comic touch. But at the same time his eagerness to meet his father threw him into total confussion. He struggles to over come it by many ways and atlast when he know that his father is no more, his reacton is heartbreaking. This film conveys the message that most of the self styled custodians of any religions are usually scammed people and they are exploiting the beliefs of the people for their benefit.
