chotoder Chobi (Eng: A short Story) is a 2015 Benglai Drama film. The famous award winning director of 'Arekti Premer Golpo' and 'Apur panchali' directed this film as his third prestige project. Shrikant Mohta produced the film for Shree Venkatesh Films. The film stars Dulal Sarkar and deblina Roy in lead roles. This film introduces many dwarfs actors who were new to the industry. Chotoder Chobi is an interesting at the same time sympathizing story about a group of dwarf jokers who works in a circus. An intense story is crafted beautifully in Chotder Chobi and it throws light on the lives of the neglected group and attitude of society towards them. Khoka (Dulal Sarkar) and Shibu were close friends and both are working in a famous circus troop as jockers. Though life was very difficult for them, they wraped their gloominess and tried their best to make others happy. But one day a disaster fall on shibu, an accident happend to shibu which leave him on bed. The manager agrees to pay a compensation of Rs. 15,000 which was a minuscule amount for him and his family. But no one was dare to question it because for them there was no option than be there and receive the given salary. But Khola his friend couldn't bear this humiliation and questiond this injustice. He eventually left the circus and took care of the shibu's family in all means. It was a great help for shibu also. All through the attempt to help the family he sufferes many diffulties and he understands the difficities of being a dwarf. The society looks indifferent in their problem and they are a neglected faction in society. But as time went on the twist of the story happened and that was the love affairs between Khoka and shibu's daughter, Soma (Debalina Roy). He finds relish in her presence and she gave courage to him in his difficulties. But what about Shibu's family reaction on their relation? Will they accept this relation? Can they continue their friendship as before? The movie answers all these questions as it develop to an unexpected climax. The award winning film 'Chotoder Chobi' received many positive reviews and the best actor award was given to dulal Sarkar for his brilliant performance in this film. The chemistry beween Dulal and Debalina woked successfully and people wholeheartedly received the love story of these D's (Dulal and Debaline). It throws lights on the lives of crews working in circus, their life realities and the the problem they face in society in their real life. Since they are not an assembled group there is nobody to look their needs and their plea for justice fell on deaf ears. The main defect of the film is a little exaggeration while describing the life of the jockers and it can pardoned since it is a film which tries to explore the life of the downtrodden. But I suggest to watch the film because of its story, screenplay, music and cinematography.
