Badshahi Angti
Badshahi Angti is a mystery thriller film in Bengali language, directed by Sandip Ray. The story of the film is based on the novel by renowned writer, Satyajit Ray of the same name. Shrikant Mohta produced the film with two more others. The main stars of the film are Abir Chatterjee and Sourav Das. Hit maker Sandip Ray done the music.
Fedula (Abir chatterjee) and Topshe (Sourav Das) are cousins and good friends. They decided to spend their pooja holidays in Lucknow. Topshe’s father accompanied them to Lucknow since he had some friends and acquaintance there. Topshe’s father arranged their stay in a friend’s house. That evening they had another visitor to that house and his behavior was strange and not liked by the cousins. His name was Shrivastav and was a doctor in profession. He told the story of Aurangzeb’s ring and the attempt by thieves to robber it. So frightened he entrusted the ring to the friend of Topshe’s father. Doctor had received it from one Pyarilal whom was killed by somebody for the ring. Thoug the ring was kept in a secure place it was stolen from there and the investigation to find the culprit was entrusted to Fedula and Topshe. In the course of this investigation they met some distinguished personalities and one was an animal lover and another was an actor. Bonbihari, animal lover had ferocious animals like African tiger, crocodile, hyena and most poisionous black widow spider in his own home. The second one being an actor is the son of pyarilal (who gave the ring to Dr.) suspects some malpractices behind his fathers’ death. Later it was revealed that Fedula himself has taken it for safety reasons. Feluda and others went to Haridwar. But Bonbihari who was always behind the ring wanted to steal it from Feluda. For that only Bonihari once killed Pyarilal. This time he trapped Feluda and Topshe in a long cabin, where snakes are their friends. Feluda was not afried but. Did his intelligence and bravery could save him from there? Or could he be able to protect the ring? There comes many questions which arose your curiosity and the answer is there in the rest of the film.
It was listed among the genuine films and received many positive comments. Abir Chatterjee steal the show with his marvelous prefomance and all the other actors especially Bonbinhari (Paran Bandopadhyay) supported well for the success of the film. This film makes the impression of a travelogue and each one in a family can enjoy the film together. I wish to conclude the review by quoting a part from Times of India : “As Ray’s theme Music fills the air you know what it takes to enter the realm of children’s fantasy; it’s reminder of an era when Feluda was still Felu, when evil could be defeated by good, when kids need to observe silence in the memory of their friends in another part of the globe—when the world was still a better place to live in”.
