Badlapur is a crime thriller drama film released in 2015 in bollywood.Sriram Raghavan directed the film and the film is produced by Dinesh Vijayan with Sunil Lulla. The main actors of the film are Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Huma Qureshi, Yami Gautam, Vinay Pathak, divya Dutta and Radhika Apte are acting in supporting roles. The story of Badlapur is related with the family of Raghu (Varun Dhawan) and the suffering he faced because of two culprits , who slashed his life. Raghu was leading a happy life with his wife Misha (yami Gautam) and lonely son Robin. Once they went for shopping on their car and the twist of the story starts from there. Laik (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and his friend Herman (Vinay Pathak) were two robbers and while escaping by robbing a bank used Misha's car to conceal themselves from the police. In the incident they have thrown away Robin from the car and shot Misha. Later they both Succumb to their injuries and it was a huge shock unbearable to Raghu. As he loved them too much he felt a total blankness in life and dicided to gave away his life for revenge with the culprits. Mean while Laik was arrested by the police and Harman escaped with the money. The court sentenced Laik tor 20 years in prison. Laik din't disclose the name of his friend. Raghu hired a detective to learn more about Herman. Then he met Jhimli (Huma Qureshi), girl friend of Liak. She was too much faithful to Laik and didnt tell anything to Raghu. Furious Raghu tortured and raped her. In total disappointment he tried to commit suicide but failed. Then he met Liak's mother and already 15 years had gone. By this time Liak had become a cancer patient and the mother revealed the whereabouts of Harman on condition that Raghu would help his son to get a parol from the prision. Raghu did as he promised and he met Harman in Pune where he had been leading good life with his wife. Now he had become a respected member in the society. But all these were not enough reasons to pull out his revenge on Herman. After accepting a share of the robbed money Raghu killed both Harman and her wife and buried them on alonly hilltop. Police were behind Laik but they understood that Herman and her wife is missing and they suspect Raghu also. Laik fights with Raghu and reveals that it was he who killed his wife and son , and Harman was innocent. Liak met his mother again and rememberes his past and was very much disappointed. The repentant Liak confess all his mistakes and advice Raghu to lead a good life. Liak told police that it was he who killed his friend and Raghu is innocent. Soon after Laik succumbed to Cancer. The Jhimli came to meet Raghu and revealed another truth. What was that? Could he lead a better life after that? The rest of the story tells the answers for all these questions. The film received many positive reviews and was a hit at the boxoffice. The characters appear in the film truly represents somebody among us and the social values are upholding prominently in this film. This is really not the story of Ragu but Liak who become a saint form his cruelty. The performance of Varun was super especially in emotional scence and the family audience were attracted more by his presence. As Raja Sen commented 'Baldapur is a dark, unflinching, fantastic film. At the same time the film has some negatives also. The main thing is that it didn't respect or belive the women and always treat them as an instrument. Raping a prostitute for revenge is very rare and never overheared! As for revenge for his life Raghu actually slices the life of many girls and for that he is not repentant. Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV noted pervasive conemptful treatment of women in the film, writing, 'if one can ignore the overt misogyny on show all through the film Badlapur throws up enough surprise to hold the viewer's interest right until the bitter end. A watchable Movie.
