This is an industry which is going through a very good phase. Known for making extremely realistic movies this industry was in its peak during the 70s and 80s. With the coming in of satellite television and Video piracy this industry has become sick and is still unable to revive. Stars from Karnatka too have migrated and finding value for their talent in the Tamil and Telugu industry.This was a year from the Kannada Actresses in Kollywood. Main stars are Anu Prabhakar, Bhavana, Chytra, Prema, Ruthu, Tara, Chandini etc.
The kannada industry is the industry which has produced great actors like Raj Kumar and upendra. It’s this industry which is the main hub for original stories. Kannada cinema celebrated its 75-year anniversary in 2009. A function was held on the palace grounds in Bangalore on 1 March 2009 under the direction of V. Ravichandran, featuring a set resembling an open-winged bird. It was attended by many stars from Kannada cinema as well as actors from other film industries who had a stint in Kannada films.
