Aamir Khan’s movie nears $1 million mark in HK; grosses Rs 1888.65 crore worldwide

Now as per the latest box office update, Dangal is racing towards $1 million mark at the Hong Kong box office with the current box office collection being $904 K.

Dangal is wowing our Asian neighbours and how! After its more than impressive run in China where it became the highest grossing non-Hollywood movie there, Aamir Khan’s wrestling biopic is now winning over Hong Kong. The movie, which released in HK last week, debuted in the second spot and by Saturday, claimed to top spot at the box office. While we all agree that Dangal is a really wonderful movie, it is surprising to see that the audiences
from China and Hong Kong are loving the movie just like we did.

Now as per the latest box office update, Dangal is racing towards $1 million mark at the Hong Kong box office with the current box office collection being $904 K. This is how the movie performed over the last few days in Hong Kong: Thursday (previews) – US$ 85 K, Friday – US$ 109 K, Saturday – US$ 215 K, Sunday – US$ 215 K, Monday – US$ 94 K, Tuesday – 107 K. So this brings Dangal’s overseas collections to $214.82 million. Adding our domestic collections to that, the wrestling drama’s worldwide collections is now $ 295.33 million, which amounts to Rs 1888.65 crores. Just a little more than Rs 100 crore away from being the only Indian movie to gross more than Rs 2000 crore at the international box office. All the best for that!

Aamir Khan plays former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat in Dangal, that’s directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra play his daughters and national wrestling champions, Geeta and Babita Phogat respectively. While talking about Dangal’s historic run in China, Aamir had said, “While we were hoping that ‘Dangal’ connects with the people of China, not in our wildest dreams we thought that this is the kind of connect we would
have. It was unprecedented. We are pleasantly surprised.” Well, we are quite sure he would be pretty pleased with the Hong Kong blitzkrieg too.
