WHAT! Mohanlal-starrer Odiyan has already collected Rs 100 crore even before release? – here’s how
This Mohanlal-starrer period drama is directed by VA Shrikumar Menon and will have The Complete Actor playing an intense character.
After Pulimurugan and Kayamkulam Kochunni, Malayalam cinema will witness another big-budget film which will have a huge release across the nation and that will be Odiyan. This Mohanlal-starrer period drama is directed by VA Shrikumar Menon and will have The Complete Actor playing an intense character. Odiyan is slated to be released on December 14 worldwide and is expected to have great openings on the first day itself. But even before the release, it is being said that the film has already earned a collection of more than Rs 100 crore. The venture has clocked in more than Rs 100 core in pre-release business from theatrical, digital and satellite rights. And with such numbers, Odiyan is the first ever Malayalam film to have earned such pre-release numbers.
Expectations from this Mohanlal-starrer have been quite high ever since it was announced. Odiyan will have the actor playing Manickan, the last surviving member of a tribal community in Palakkad region in Kerala. The teaser and trailers of the film have left audiences asking for more and are eager to watch it on big screen. Mohanlal has put in a lot of effort to get in shape for his character in this project and the results are visible in the trailer which features a younger-looking Mohanlal along with the one who is a middle-aged one after a 30 year leap. Odiyan also stars Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj in key roles who are also seen in the trailer of the film.
Speaking about preparing for his role, Mohanlal had recently said, “The film goes through two different ages – one in the present and the other 30 years ago. As a person gets old, he puts on weight and that is perhaps the biggest challenge for me in Odiyan. And doesn’t matter even if I have to starve, I will prepare for it in the best possible way.”
