Ajay Devgn’s Raid CRUSHES Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man to become third highest grosser of 2018
Raid is expected to earn around Rs 88 crore by the end of its second week at the ticket window
Ajay Devgn‘s Raid is enjoying a splendid run in its second week at the box office. Despite not being a typical masala entertainer, the film attracted a huge chunk of the audience with its powerful content, engaging narrative and extraordinary star performances. In 12 days, the period crime thriller has raked in Rs 84.36 crore and with this business it has surpassed the lifetime collections of Akshay Kumar‘s Pad Man, which had collected Rs 82.10 crore at the box office.
Raid has now become the third highest grosser of 2018 after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat and Kartik Aaryan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. The film will earn around Rs 88 crore by the end of its second week at the ticket window. Since Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani starrer Baaghi 2 is arriving this Friday, it’ll be interesting to see how Raid will perform in its third week. Produced under the banners of Panorama Studios and T-Series, the film is directed by Rajkumar Gupta, who previously helmed films like Aamir, No One Killed Jessica and Ghanchakkar. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the film also features Ileana D’Cruz, Saurabh Shukla and Sulagna Panigrahi in pivotal roles.
Made on the budget of Rs 45 crore including promotion and advertising, the film has already turned out to be huge success at the box office. Raid is based on true events which occurred in Uttar Pradesh and has been inspired by real-life Income Tax raids which were held by Indian Revenue Services back in the ’80s and 90’s.
