Will Tiger Zinda Hai break Ek Tha Tiger’s box office records?
Tiger Zinda Hai is set to hit the theatres tomorrow.
The only name on everyone’s lips right now is Tiger. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are returning as secret agents Tiger and Zoya tomorrow, in Tiger Zinda Hai, and fans are losing their shit. Don’t believe us? Just look at the advance booking trends.
But Tiger Zinda Hai has some big shoes to fill. When the first part of the franchise, Ek Tha Tiger released in 2012, it rewrote box office history. With a whopping opening day collection of Rs 32.92 crore, Ek Tha Tiger became the highest opener ever, back then. Not just that, Ek Tha Tiger became the
fastest film to rake in Rs 100 crore, at that point, and the highest grossing film that year. Will Tiger Zinda Hai be able to break its predecessor’s records?
Let us not forget that Salman’s Tubelight tanked at the box office, and he had to compensate the distributors for their losses. Having said that, Tubelight was a departure from the actor’s larger- than-life ‘hero’ avatar. Fans expect their beloved ‘Bhai’ to beat up dozens singlehandedly, and Tiger Zinda Hai promises just that.
Salman, who returns as the suave RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent in Tiger Zinda Hai, promised in an interview that the film will definitely be bigger than Ek Tha Tiger. Tiger Zinda Hai “has things that you have never seen before in Indian cinema”, the actor claimed, laying special emphasis
on the high-octane action sequences.
Award-winning stunt director Tom Struthers, who has Hollywood blockbusters such as X-Men: First Class and Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises to his credit, has been roped in.
Not just this, Salman and Katrina’s onscreen reunion is sending fans into a tizzy. The two have been sharing sneak-peeks from behind the scenes of Tiger Zinda Hai, which have gone viral in hours, if not minutes. Fans are especially excited to watch the exes set the screen on fire with their sizzling
chemistry. And if that’s not enough of a draw, you have the breathtaking locales of Austria, Abu Dhabi, Greece and Morocco.
One thing is for sure – this Christmas, Tiger will be back with a roar, though it remains to be seen if it can match Ek Tha Tiger’s record and become the highest grossing film this year.
