Deepika Padukone’s Padmavati to finally get the green signal from CBFC today?
According to new reports, Padmavati might get the nod from the CBFC today.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has been attracted to trouble, like moth to a flame. As political groups like the Shri Rajput Karni Sena are convinced that the film is a distortion of history, they’ve left no stone unturned to prevent the release of the film. There were numerous state protests, and death threats targeting the Padmavati crew.Following this, the CBFC (Central Board of Certification), initially denied the certificate to the film, and stated a new rule: Filmmakers should submit the film 68 days before screening.
After a stony silence, there might finally be some good news. Padmavati is expected to get a certificate from the CBFC today and the producers may decide when to release the film, which was postponed indefinitely from December 1. According to sources from a leading daily, “There’s been no official intimation from the producers. Whenever they plan to release it, we will be happy to give them the promised number of screens.”
Another source says, “Once the certificate comes, the producers will decide when they want to release Padmavati. As of now, they’re looking at January 5 and January 12.”Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, is based on the poem Padmavat, written in 1540 by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi.
It revolves around the life of Rani Padmini (played by Deepika in the film), and how she avoided falling into the clutches of Turkish invader Alauddin Khilji (played by Ranveer), by committing jauhar. The Rajput groups firmly believe that the film will show a romantic dream sequence between Rani Padmini, and Khilji, despite all clarifications from the team.
