Shah Rukh Khan gets Priyanka Chopra replaced by Deepika Padukone in Don 3?

Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly got Priyanka Chopra replaced by his Chennai Express co-star Deepika Padukone in Don 3.

Mastani and Kashibai might have matched steps to the tunes of Pinga in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2015 film Bajirao Mastani, but in real-life, Deepika Padukone seems to have replaced Priyanka Chopra in Don 3. The reason? Shah Rukh Khan. While gossip mills have been abuzz with rumours about an extramarital affair between Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, back when the two were shooting for Don 2. Tabloids churned out story after story till Shah Rukh and Priyanka stopped being seen together in public, and the rumours fizzled out.

As recently as a few months ago, the internet went into a tizzy after Priyanka appeared on a US chat show, wearing a leather jacket that belonged to her ex. Social media went crazy trying to pull out photos of Shah Rukh in a similar jacket, and reaching their own conclusions about Shah Rukh and Priyanka’s supposed relationship.

But no, that is not the reason that Shah Rukh has apparently got Priyanka, his co-star from Don and Don 2, replaced by Deepika. Buzz has it that Shah Rukh feels that Deepika and he make for a more hit jodi. The two have to their credit blockbusters like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year. Now, Shah Rukh wants his chemistry with Deepika to work its magic at the box office for Don 3 too. Shah Rukh apparently has asked Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, producers of Don 3, for casting Deepika opposite him instead of Priyanka, a report in Filmfare said.

Priyanka Chopra, meanwhile, is busy with her numerous projects in the West. She is currently shooting for the third season of Quantico. Deepika, on the other hand, is currently at the centre of a massive storm thanks to her upcoming film Padmavati, that is seeing nationwide protests with its release pushed indefinitely.
