Just a couple of days ahead of the release of Ittefaq, filmmaker and talk show host Karan Johar has interrogated Ittefaq actors Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna.

The cast of this Friday’s release, Ittefaq came up with an interesting marketing strategy as they decided to not promote the film on any television show. Also, the lead actors of the movie, Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna didn’t talk to the media ahead of the release of their film which is a remake of 1969 suspense thriller of the same name. But the co-producers, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan addressed the queries of the audience in a press meet held in Mumbai on Monday.

And now, just a couple of days ahead of the release, filmmaker and talk show host Karan Johar has interrogated the three lead actors of Ittefaq. In this special interrogation, the focus, however, shifted to Sidharth’s personal life where KJo ended up grilling his prodigy. First, his relationship status and then a question about his sex life left Sidharth searching for words. Replying to the quintessential question, who is he dating, Sidharth said, “I am single. I am generally single in October.” (whatever does that mean). Then coming to his sex life, Karan asked him how is his sex life going to which Sidharth jokingly replied, “It’s exciting, thrilling and intriguing. And all the three happened on the same night.” To add spice to Sidharth’s statement, Karan said, “Ittefaq is just like Sidharth Malhotra’s sex life, ‘Thrilling, exciting and intriguing’.”

Karan also asked Sonakshi and Akshaye about their relationship status. While Sonakshi said she is eagerly waiting for the love of her life, Akshaye said he was happy being single and wants to live his life alone. Also, the star cast of the film in a rapid-fire round revealed some unknown facts about themselves. For Akshaye Khanna, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the sexiest woman in the industry and he can’t take his eyes off her whenever he looks at her. Sonakshi Sinha’s first crush was Hrithik Roshan. Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone are the sexiest women for Sidharth.

During the conversation, the ace director-producer asked Akshaye about the unique promotion strategy of Ittefaq. “I feel the promo of a film that makes the audience watch a movie. An actor can go and give a thousand interviews or promote the film on TV reality shows but it doesn’t change the view of the audience to watch or not to watch the movie,” replied Akshaye who was last seen in MOM.

Coming to Sonakshi Sinha, who has seduced Sidharth in the murder mystery, Karan asked if she enjoyed the seduction scenes. Sonakshi said, “Every actor has a thing which they are very uncomfortable doing onscreen. So, I was very uncomfortable. I am a good actor that is why it didn’t show in the scenes of the movie but I was really uncomfortable. In general, in front of the cameras, it’s uncomfortable to seduce a man.” To this Karan Johar asks the audience to watch out for a scene in the movie where she reaches out for the neck of Sidharth and stays there.

When Karan asked Sidharth about his unusual choices in cinema and taking some big risks and leaps much more than other actors of his generation have and Ittefaq being another unusual choice, the Baar Baar Dekho actor said, “Definitely, I have never done a murder mystery. The character I got to play it’s almost like a double role, you have many shades to play as an actor, it’s very challenging yet very satisfying to go on the set and try different things. But, yes it wasn’t an endeavour to do different things. It’s just that I stumbled upon such scripts. Ittefaq came to me when I was doing Ek Villain. But the movie didn’t happen that time.” During the candid conversation, it was also revealed that none of the young actors of Ittefaq have watched the 1969 Ittefaq starring Rajesh Khanna.

Karan also got the confusion of audience around, ‘How was the suspense of Ittefaq saved while shooting the film?’ answered. Sonakshi said, “We shot alternate climax for the movie and the crew of the film didn’t know what was the true ending of the movie. And, if in case you get to know the ending of the movie, the ride to the end is very intriguing.”
