Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal is inching towards the Rs 50- crore mark.

Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s Jab Harry Met Sejal did not open to a great start at the box office. Despite the hype, cinegoers and critics panned the film as soon as it hit the screens last Friday (August 4). In fact, Jab Harry Met Sejal went onto become SRK’s lowest opener in the last five years when it earned only Rs 15.23 crore on its opening day.

The film further witnessed a dip in its collection on its second day, collecting Rs 15 crore. And Sunday was no different. Imitiaz Ali’s directorial venture has collected another Rs 16 crore (approx) on its third day of release, thus taking the total to Rs 46.23 crore (approx) in its opening weekend.

The film revolves around tourist guide Harinder Singh Nehra aka Harry (SRK), a “cheap” man, who discovers himself and love while helping Sejal (Anushka) find her engagement ring, which she loses on a vacation in Europe.  Jab Harry Met Sejal is Shah Rukh’s first collaboration with Imtiaz Ali, and his third with Anushka Sharma.

Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 80 crore, it is crucial for Jab Harry Met Sejal to cash in on its fiest Monday. The extended holiday weekend might work in the favour of the film. Next week, the film will face competition at the box office from Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
