Hrithik’s Kaabil will be first Bollywood release in Pakistan post ban
Kaabil producer Rakesh Roshan has confirmed that Kaabil will have a solo release in Pakistan, the first since the ban on Indian films has been lifted.
Post the Uri attacks in September, cultural exchange between India and Pakistan had come to a standstill. While Bollywood producers vowed not to work with Pakistani talent, Pakistan retaliated by banning the screening of Indian films. However, our neighbours recently decided to lift the ban and
reports began doing the rounds that Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer Kaabil will be the first Indian film to hit Pakistani screens since the tension, while Shah Rukh Khan’s gangster drama Raees will release a week later.
According to a report in BollywoodLife, Rakesh Roshan has confirmed this. He is quoted as saying, “Yes, Kaabil is releasing in Pakistan tomorrow or day after tomorrow. I have just got a call from my distributor Satish Anand that the breakthrough has been done by Kaabil. I felt very nice and he said he
hopes this relation continues between the two countries. It is the first film to release.
Kaabil has held its own at the box office even though it was at an obvious disadvantage in the clash – it had lesser screens and shows. Despite that, it has been giving Raees stiff competition at the box
office.
